After-party pants

These are the pants I made for the after party.

Reception

Here are the centerpieces with the aisle runners we made. We also came up with the centerpieces. The place cards have poker hands glued to them and they match the hands at the tables which is in the other picture. This is instead of table numbers. The Seinfeld picture has my husband and I in it. My friend did this. We are huge Seinfeld fans. This was our sign-in. The third picture is how we used the aisle runner and planters at the reception.

Cape

Here is the bridal cape that my sister-in-law and (her) mother made. It was beautiful!

Candy Buffet

Here is the candy buffet. It was such a hit that I didn't get a picture of it before it was bombarded by guests! There are few containers knocked over in this picture!

Here is the cake that my stepmom made. It was red velvet. Yummy! The arbor was wheeled in from the ceremony room to go over the cake. It was perfect!

Arbor/Ceremony Decor

Here is the beautiful arbor and planters that my dad made. My stepmom decorated everything including the flowers, greens, lights, and branches. It was beautiful! There were even 2 more planters and branches at the other end of the aisle runner. The arbor and 2 planters will be in my yard eventually.

Thank You cards for Bridal Shower gifts

Here are the cards I made for the bridal shower gifts. I made 8 different designs and then made about 10 of each design. I stayed with the black and white theme even though my bridal shower was Halloween themed. By the way.......it was fantastic! Thanks girls!

Aisle Runner Completed!

The aisle runner is finally finished after hours of tedious painting!

Invitations

I realized that I forgot to post the pictures of the finished invitations. They took forever but I'm glad I decided to do them myself. I gave myself a little credit by putting a 'handmade by' stamp on the back. The little rhinestones took forever and some fell off in the mail. The post office was not supposed to put them through the machine which is why I spent 98 cents per stamp but they did anyway. I blame the rhinestone mishap on them!

Aisle Runner

I bought 20 yards of muslin and my mom helped me hem the edges. It turned out really nice. I then blew up a monogram at Kinko's for a few bucks. I traced it onto the runner about 10 ft. from one end. I started to paint it black. It's very tedious! I think it'll turn out nice though.

Damask Website

www.boxandwrap.com is a great site. It has lots of different boxes/bags in damask prints. I am liking the damask cello bags for the candy buffet but am deciding whether it is worth the money.

Invitations are finally finished!!

Four months later......my invitations are ready to go to the post office. I made them by hand and have been working on them for soooooooooo long. I will be posting a 'how to' with pictures later but I wanted to share my wonderful news now!

Cutting Above Blog

The Place

My fiance and I decided on a Holiday Inn in our area to have the ceremony and reception at. We aren't very religious and thought it would be weird to just find a random church. Plus, we thought it'd be easier for everyone if they didn't have to travel. We (and by we, it's more me and then I make sure he is okay with it) have been trying to personalize everything. The ceremony is going to be very different from a traditional one. My fiance was sold on the Sam Adam's bar for the cocktail hour anyway. Having everything at the hotel means I will have to do welcome bags for our guests because many will probably stay over. More fun DIY projects! I already have some in the works. (Future posts to come!)

Bridesmaid Dresses

I decided that black would be the most elegant for bridesmaid dresses. This style is very flattering on all shapes. It is also very simple and elegant. I think it reminds me of a tuxedo for a female.

Save the Date 2

I wanted to be able to send the save the dates in a card or something. I sent them out in spring, so I wasn't sure how I should send them. I decided on keeping it elegant. I bought plain card at AC Moore and then stamped them on the outside with the music notes stamp. On the inside, I stamped with the words dum dum da dum. Yes, it is the wedding song......NOT the funeral song. I knew some people would hum it wrong but I have a pretty good sense of humor and thought it was funny when it took some people a few tries to figure it out. I kept the card this simple and stuck the save the date magnet inside. This whole process was really cheap!

Save the Date

I went back and forth about whether or not to send save the dates. I decided to do it since we are getting married in December and there would be holiday parties going on and because I was excited and needed to do something for the wedding. :) I decided to do a black and white wedding and found a great print called damask. I am using it for runners (coming in a later post) and also wanted to incorporate the same type of design in the save the dates. I had my wonderful friend, who is a graphic designer, help with the design. (Thanks Emily!) Then, I got the design printer for free at www.vistaprint.com. I only paid a few dollars for shipping. I had them printed on business cards. I bought business card magnets at Staples and just. These are great because I just had to peel the back off and stick the business card to it. I decided to make the project a little more time consuming by adding one little crystal to the damask design. It was simple, elegant, and had a touch of sparkle. That's what I was going for anyway.
